Our plan
Our project is about school life of 3 generations.
We are going to interview our grandparents, parents and our brothers and sisters about the experiences from school. we are going to look what the differences are between the school life in the past and now.
We will make some pictures while the interview.
Renée is the teamleader and I will put all the information on the internet.
Indy is the editor, so she will check all the mistakes in the texts and Jamie Lee will write everything down.

Our interviews
The children
It depends per child if they enjoy their schooltime., because mostly if you are young you don’t like school. Everyone had a lot of contact with their classmates and also after school they meet each other. The strictness of the schoolrules and the teachers are good enough. The most found it good how it is now. Everyone wanted to have school now, because of all the new technics. Now all the classes exist of an even number of boys and girls. The schooldays take about 6 till 7 hours. For punish you have to stay after school. The average of children in a class is about 27 persons. Mostly every school had different levels but it depends on the school. Everybody could choose their own school but mostly it is the nearest school. Still now every school is religious, and you celebrate the holy days. Everybody is fine by the quality of teaching. They walk, cycle and sometimes they go with a car to school, it takes about 5 till 20 minutes to get there. The contact between the teachers and the children is very good and the atmosphere is also fine.
The parents
Everybody did like the school life especially with friends, because they have a lot of friends. The strictness depend on the school but the most school were strict. They wanted to improve the effort. The parents were all fine with the school in that time, because now people are more on their telephone. It depends per school if there was any diference between girls and boys, because some parents took lessons on a boy/girls school. A school day took like 6 hours like nowadays. if they do something wrong as punish they have to clean up things, to detent or writing things over. the classes exist on average of 30 persons. all the schools had differences in levels, for example havo or athenieum. our parents are allowed to chose their own school, but you mostly they decided it togetherwith their parents. Some schools were religious and some aren't. Mostly the quality of the teachings were fine. everybody went to school by bike, and it took about 10 till 15 minutes. The contact between the student and the teachers were fine, but also professional.
The grandparents
All the grandparents agreed with each other that the secondary school was fine.Everyone had a lot of friends who they had a lot of contact with. The strictness depended per school, because some schools are very strict and some not.The grandparents all prefer to go to school now, because of the new technics and there are more different subjects. It depends per school, but there were a lot of school which were divided. The schooldays took about 6 to 7 hours and ended about 3’o clock. If you did something wrong you got as punish an imposiotion or you had to clean up. The average of the people in the class was about 15 persons. Mostly there were no differences in levels. Mostly you chose the nearest school and otherwise your parents chose. All the schools were religious in that time and you also went to the church. Everyone found the quality of education good for that time. The grandparents went to school by bike and it took about 10-30 minutes. The most teachers were stand-offish to the students.

Conclusion Netherlands
What did we do?
We have interviewd our parents, grandparents and our brothers and sisters about their experiences at school. The school is changed, because of the new techniques (computers), it is less strict than in the past, religion is now less important, there are now more subjects and there are now less differences between boys and girls. What stayed the same are the amounts of the children in the class and go to school by bike.

Differences/similarities with India
Grandparents/parents
Because the parents and grandparents had almost the same information we have put it together. The grandparents’ school in India and here were mostly the same, but in the Netherlands we had more subjects. The grandparents in India had a lot more activities, in the Netherlands they had just normal lessons everyday. In India they had the same punishments as here. But it depents per school how strict it was. Here in the Netherlands they had a lot of homework and in India they could finish it on school. Also the schedule was different. In the Netherlands they had a longer timetable till 3 o’clock, and in India only till 1 o’clock. In the Netherland they had different religions (Christianity) and in India they had more religions like Buddhism or Hinduism. This led to different habits at school.

General information
The most of our grandparents lived in a family with 10 till 15 persons, the most parents with 2 till 4 persons and our brothers and sisters 2.
The things that the grandparents remind the most is the days that they go to other cities, from the parents it is the workweek and from the children the day to a theme park.

Reflection
We liked this project and we have learned a lot about the schoollife from other times or in another country. You realise that it has changed a lot in the last decades. We also really liked to interview our parents and grandparents and listen to their stories. The teamwork went very well, we finished before all the deadlines, the tasks ver well divided and we were happy with the results.
