The position of women has changed, not with the help of the government, but with the help of lust for money. |

Not that I know of. 2006 wasn't that long ago. Less for women I think, due to the lack of gender equality back then. Probably not. My dad had moved out when I was 13, so not in my family, no. Brothers were too young at that age to help out. I guess not. Again, 2006 wasn't that long ago. Sorry, I don't have a clue. The government hasn't tried particularly hard, I think. Yes. I do 95% and my brothers get away with doing zilch (most of the time). That's also because they're younger, and I get that, but it's still unfair. I do things like cleaning up, cleaning overall, feeding pets, etc. |

Differences & similarities amongst our interviewees
Usually, older people lived with more people in one house than younger people. The older people's mothers had no jobs or were housewives. The fathers usually had more practical jobs, like plumbing or butchering. It also seems like fewer historical events have happened lately.
Gender equality has improved over the years. In the past, there was a big difference between boys and girls in families and schools. Before, men had a lot of jobs to choose from, while women had a very small list to pick from (if they weren't a housewife). Men are still seen as being more suitable for some jobs nowadays, but there's a much smaller gap between men and women now. Women used to have a much lower salary, but it's the same as men now. Men help with household more than in the past.
According to most people, the position of women has not changed with the help of the government.
Conclusion
Nowadays women are more equal to men in reference to work, household and rights.

Differences & similarities between our interviewees and those of the Hiranandani Foundation School
Some people in India believed that girls had the 'right to educate'. In the past women were less likely to get an education, and even if they had an education, a lot of them would end up as housewives. Over time, women from India got more equality just like in the Netherlands. Women in India work too, and salaries are mostly equal but sometimes less. Grandparents in India lived in joined families. Household in India was almost always done by only the women. In the Netherlands men helped too, though not often.
