Actually, fathers of the grandparents who lived in the rural area were farmers while the fathers of the urban dwelling grandparents were lawyers, officer, etc. They had to face the traumatic experience of the 1964 Indo-Pakistan war. There was not much difference between religious and non-religious school. The only difference was that religious school had religion as a subject while non-religious didn’t have. The grandparents had 6-9 subjects per day and they had school for about 7 hours. The school started from around 9 am and ended at around 3-4 pm . They had less home works to do at home. Most of them had a good relationship with their teachers. The extracurricular activities of the grandparents were sports, scouts and road safety patrol. There was strict discipline in the school and the punishment was sometimes to stand outside the class, suspension and running on the ground. All of them believed that teenagers today study much harder. Most of the people blamed it on the population growth and the change in the education system but one grandparent criticized the education system and said that it burdened the students a lot.

Overview of the school Life: - Children
Most of the children have a nuclear family, many of our moms are either a housewife or working in different companies. The professions of our fathers differed from one person to another. Unlike the grandparents, we didn’t have to face the traumatic experience of wars but our generation’s history is marred by the 26/11 Mumbai Attacks and the Mumbai floods of 2005.
Like those schools at time of the grandparents and parents, there was not much difference between religious and non-religious school. The only difference was that religious school had religion as a subject while non-religious didn’t have. The average ration of the number of students per teacher is 25:1. We have 8 subjects per day and our school is for about 7 and a half hours. Sometimes we have less homework and sometimes we have a lot of homework to do at home. Most of us had a good relationship with our teachers. We have a lot of extracurricular activities like MUNs, sports, inter-school level events. Schools today are less disciplined as compared to those times and our punishments are less severe. We also believe that teenagers today study much harder and the reason being the rise in competition and the change in the education system.

Comparing the school life of the 3 generations
The school life has changed a lot. At first the grand parents had a strict, disciplined school life. There were severe punishment like running on the ground and suspension The present day ICSE, CBSE, IB and IGCSE boards was non-existent. There were less extracurricular activities. There was very less competition and less homework.
The school life of the parent's were very similar to that of the grandparent's. They had a strict, disciplined school life. The CBSE and ICSE board may have started at this time but IB and IGCSE board is still not there. There were less extracurricular activities. There was less completion and less burden of a lot of home works for the students.
The school life of our generation is very different then that of our parent's. The schools have become less disciplined but the punishment is the same as the punishment time of our parents. Now there are the different boards like SSC, ICSE, IGCSE and IB. The teaching has become more interactive with the introduction of internet and internet based education programs like Educomp and Big History Project. Now there is a range of extracurricular activities present and the competition has increased. Also, there is a lot of homework and projects, especially for ICSE board, and a lot of tension.

The Conclusion
So what our group members expected was that there would be gradual changes in the school life of the 3 generations but what we are seeing is that there is almost no changes in the school life of the 1st and 2nd generation but a a lot of changes in the school life of the 3rd generation. What we expected, as mentioned in the introduction of our Group leader, that students of today's world study harder, is backed by the interviews as both the grandparents and the parents as they believe the same and their reason for believing this is also the same as our group leader's reason.
Also the interviews has broken our myth of the old stereotypical teacher who would hit his/her students with a scale or the stick because there was no mention of such teachers in any of these interviews.
