3 GENERATIONS FAMILY LIFE - HFS : INTERVIEWS
A wise saint once said, "Human interaction is the best source of information," and who's supposed to defy a wise saint? Not us atleast. Given below are some of the interactions that we had with the 3 generations!
COMPARISON BETWEEN INTERVIEWS OF GRANDPARENTS:
The majority of the families during their teenage years spent a lot of time together. The family bonding was strong as well. Joint families were quite the norm back then. Also, there was lack of family planning which gave rise to a significant number of sibling each child had. Though there are some exceptions in all the cases mentioned above, maximum of the population believed in the fact that each member of the family should live under a single roof, as a single unit and spend quality time with each other. Patriarchy was a very important aspect of the family life of this generation.

COMPARISON BETWEEN INTERVIEWS OF PARENTS:
As seen very clearly in the videos, during the time of the 2nd generation as well, family time was cherished and valued. Though in some cases parents weren't able to devote as much time to their children, whatever time was spent was quality time. The bonds between siblings was very strong as well. The family lived as a single unit. Patriarchy was still very much prevalent in the family. In this generation however, the idea of joint families was gradually fading away and nuclear families were becoming more and more popular. Also, the idea of family planning began to gain precedence as compared to the generation before them.

COMPARISON BETWEEN THE 1st & 2nd GENERATION :
The family life of the 1st and the 2nd generation didn't differ much, with only a few exceptions here and there. Significant changes in the family strata were the shift from joint families to nuclear families and the concept of family planning.

BELIEF REGARDING THE TEENAGERS OF TODAY:
The 1st generation strongly believes that today's teenagers do not value family as much as they did when they were their age. The also believe that teenagers don't respect their elders, are lazy and don't want to work hard enough.
The 2nd generation is of the opinion that today's generation has a lot of opportunities, some which they didn't have. Today families have becoming more accepting to things that were not encouraged earlier such as the fine arts, the humanities, etc, thus widening the horizon for the teenagers of today. They should make the most of it.
