Comparisons of the interviews with grandparents
We founded out that most of the families and number of people that live together in one house of the grandparents' family is the same, around 5 people in one house. And about the jobs of their parents, their mothers where all housewife, who are always doing work at home. Almost every father was farmer. And at all cases, the fathers of our grandparents had the most to say in the family. There where a lot of differences in places where the family lives. Most of the grandparents lived at places nearby where they live now when they where 14 years old, but some of them lived at a different place in the Netherlands. The grandparents mentioned a lot of special events worldwide, such as the second world war and the cold war. The things that were discussed in the family where different. A lot of them where just decided by their parents. The main values taught were different. Special occasions were also very different and personal, but
people mentioned things like holidays and weddings. The grandparents felt a member of the family mostly when they gathered as family, on weddings or special family occasions.
Comparisons of the interviews with parents
The number of people in the family of our parents differs, the number of people that lived in our parents house when they were 14 is almost the same, around 5 people in one house. The profession of their mothers were the same, housewife. They were always doing work in home and with the children. The fathers differ, they have different jobs. The places of living differ a lot. They are spread across the country. The special events worldwide named where also different. They named things like: The fall of the berlin wall and the launch of the first space shuttle. The things that were discussed in the family were also different, but the most of them named school and work. The main values taught were also different. in most of the cases, the father and mother had the most to say in the family. The parent liked the holiday in most of the cases the most. The parents felt member of the family the most if they were together on a special occasion like a wedding or Christmas.
Comparisons of parents and grandparents
The number of people in the family and in one house is almost the same. The profession of the mothers is also the same: al housewife that stayed only in house. The fathers however, got different jobs. The fathers of the grandparents were farmer, the parents of our parents got different and more modern jobs, like electrician. The places where the families lived is different by the parents as well the grandparents. Special occasions worldwide are different, it is related to the time the parents/grandparents lived. The family matters that were discussed are a bit the same, however the children had less to say in the family. In the time of the grandparents, the father had more to say, now both the parents have something to say. The grandparents/parents both liked holidays and being together the most. They both felt the most member of the family when they when together as a family, for example a wedding.
Conclusion of main question
The main question is: Has the role of the family changed?
The answer is actually no. It changed a bit. In the past, parents were much strict about the children. But they talked about almost the same family matters. The parents/grandparents felt part of the family at the same moments and liked almost the same things.
Comparisons
Comparing Bhaktivedanta Swami Mission School
We found differences and similarities between the Indian and the Dutch interviews.A main similarity is that the grandmothers where housewife most of the time and that the grandfathers worked, in Holland they where farmer most of the time, while the Indian grandfathers had another job. But they didn't interact a lot with their children, while the Dutch families did. Another big similarity is that they liked it to be together, during weddings for example. The situation with the parents is also almost the same, like the woman started working while others stayed being housewife. They also liked it to be together as a family. The outcome of the main questions is not the same, because the Indian people believe that the role of the family has changed, while we don't.

Reflection
Daniël:
I think this was a pretty fun project. It was the first project ever I did with foreigners
and it also was the best I did. I think we did pretty well. At first things didn't go as smoothly
as we wanted it to go but at the end it was more easey and a lot of fun!
Mark
It was a nice project and I learned the differences between now that I am a teenager
and the time my parents were a teenager and what happened to them.
Luuk
I liked to interview my parents and grandparents and to have a look in the Indian families. It was fun to learn about Indian families and read their articles. Their English was very good! The Skype meetings were fun to ask questions to them and to meet the Indian people. The Skype didn't work okay all the time, but eventually it worked. It was a bit messy and the planning was a bit confusing, but we managed to get everything online. Next time we have to be a bit earlier with putting things online and to make a better division of work.
Overal reflection
At the beginning some people forgot to do their work, but the further
we got into the project the better it went. So we had some problems but
we have solved them. Everyone wotked very hard and well so it is finished.
