In today's world, mass media is of utmost importance. I think of mass media as a forum which helps propagate your thoughts and make a difference in this world. To be the group leader is a great privilege for me.

The forms of mass media have evolved greatly. In my teenage years TV, internet, computers etc weren’t available. Life has become easier now, with the help of mass media.

- Where did you live? I lived in Patiala, which is situated in North India.
- What were your parents’ professions? -My Father was an Army Officer and my mother was a house wife.
- Do you remember any historical event when you were a teenager? How did it impress you? The historical event I witnessed was the 1962 Chinese war and 1971 Bangladesh war. What impressed me the most was by how Indian soldiers gave up their lives for their country.

My Father was an Architect and my mother was a house wife.
Do you remember any historical event when you were a teenager? How did it impress you?
I witnessed the formation of Kerala in 1956 and was greatly impressed at the unification of the 3 states. MAIN QUESTIONS - What kinds of mass media were available in your family? When I was a teenager only the Radio, newspaper, post and telegraph were available.
- How expensive was it to purchase a radio, TV, newspaper, etc?
It cost 250 rs for one radio (1 month salary) and 1ana for the newspaper. - Can you describe shortly how presence of different types of mass media in your household has changed since you were a teenager? Has the change been for the good? There has been a drastic change not only in the kinds of mass media available, but the efficiency too. Earlier you couldn’t call people outside your location without going through the telephone department, which would take hours. Yes it has become increasingly easier to connect with people around the world and is highly beneficial, as long as it isn't misused.

I Lived in Thiruvalla, Kerala.

M Father was a Revenue Officer and my mother was a House Wife.
4.Do you remember any historical event when you were a teenager? How did it impress you?
I witnessed the arrival of Mahatma Gandhi at Travancore. I was impressed at the way Gandhi dressed and spoke.

The newspaper cost less than 1 Ana for a whole month. Books cost around 1 rupee.(1 Ana is 16 rupees)

No radios or televisions were available before and how the forms of mass media have become very sophisticated. In the earlier days communication was possible only through telegrams, there were no telephones. Things are much better nowadays.

- Do you remember any historical event when you were a teenager? How did it impress you? The introduction of the color TV in India. I was able to watch the Cricket World Cup in which India won.

- How expensive was it to purchase a radio, TV, newspaper, etc? A TV cost 10000 rupees and a radio could be bought for 2000 rupee.

No. of channels on TV have increased; the quality has become better too. However radio prominence has gone down. Newspaper is still very prominent. He believes that mass media has changed for the better, but that it still has its drawbacks.

Nowadays there are innumerable channels. The entertainment aspect of mass media has become better, but the news channels in the olden times were much more precise.

- What kinds of mass media were available in your family? During my teenage years pagers were the only means of communication. Only 2 channels on TV were available. My dad often heard the radio as well People always preferred newspapers and magazines. According to me however VCD players were the best.
- How expensive was it to purchase a radio, TV, newspaper, etc? The TVs ranged around 20k that time

It is also easier to connect to people all over globe, but it has also made people lose interpersonal emotional touch, though its existence is good in some sense.
